Local Attractions
The Somerset levels are renowned for some of the finest bird-watching in the world. Using the ‘Parrett trail guide’ (from the Langport and river Parrett visitor centre) walk or cycle (cycles available to hire) the course of the river and explore Somerset’s flora and fauna. There are also many other wonderful walks and cycle routes in the area and we would be delighted to help with routes and maps.
Being close to the A30, A303 A358 and an easy drive to J25 M5, we are well placed to visit some of the region’s finest attractions including The Cheddar Gorge, West Somerset Railway, Wells Cathedral and Bishop’s Palace, Glastonbury, Forde Abbey, Fleet Air Arm Museum, Stourhead, Haynes Motor Museum and Sherborne Abbey and Castle.
There are also a number of historic ‘NT’ properties and fine gardens in the area.
As we are only approx 20 miles from the coast (north or south) a visit to resorts such as Lyme Regis, Bridport, Sidmouth, Weston-Super-Mare or Burnham-On-Sea is within easy reach. Explore the Devon/Dorset Jurassic Coastline and rolling Hardy countryside with a trip to Weymouth and Dorchester, or maybe a drive to Bath for a little roman culture mixed with some excellent retail therapy!. Bargain hunters should also call in at Clark’s Village Factory Outlet in Street along the way.
Nearby Dillington House, owned and run by Somerset County Council, offers educational courses (both residential and day), a wedding venue, and stages regular classical concerts with visiting artists.
